Dr. Gitonga is a lead researcher at CHeRI and a lecturer at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology’s School of Health Sciences in Kenya. He holds a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
His expertise encompasses epidemiology, population health, and chronic disease control. Dr. Gitonga’s research focuses on chronic disease management, particularly its prevalence and management in Kenya, as well as strategies for primordial and primary prevention. His interests also include maternal and child health, HIV, and sexual health. His work addresses healthcare access barriers, maternal health interventions, and HIV risk factors across various groups, including university students. Dr. Gitonga has made significant contributions to public health through his publications and projects, enhancing health service access and tackling health disparities in Kenya.

Dr. Mutua is an Epidemiologist, faculty member, and lead researcher at DedanKimathi University of Technology’s Center for Health Research Innovation (CHeRi) and School of Health Sciences in Kenya.
He holds a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Kenyatta University and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Disease Control from Moi University, both in Kenya. Dr. Mutua specializes in epidemiological studies, clinical trials, and implementation science, focusing on translating research findings into practical interventions. His research interests include the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), with a special focus on cancer. He is actively involved in national and international collaborations to address the growing burden of cancer in Kenya. Additionally, Dr. Mutua is interested in leveraging information technology, especially in the emerging fields of data science and AI, to tackle a diverse range of public health problems.

Dr. Diana Wangeshi Njuguna is a researcher at the Center for Health Research and Innovation (CHeRi) and a lecturer at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Kenya, within the School of Health Sciences.
She holds a Ph.D. in Health Sciences from the University of Debrecen, Hungary. Dr. Njuguna’s research is centered on cancer prevention, health policy, and the innovative application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance health outcomes. She has made significant contributions to research on cervical cancer policies in East Africa, cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccination in Kenya and Nigeria, and the experiences of prostate cancer survivors in Kenya.

Dr. Florence Wangari Mbuthia is a researcher at the Center for Health Research and Innovation (CHeRi) and a lecturer at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Kenya, within the School of Health Sciences.
With a strong background in sexual and reproductive health, Dr. Mbuthia’s expertise encompasses maternal and child health, family planning, and reproductive health issues, including cancer of the reproductive organs. Her research interests extend to the reproductive health rights and gender issues of young people. She has led and participated in various research projects, including studies on family planning, maternal health, and the application of mobile health technologies, and is currently engaged in research on cervical cancer. Dr. Nancy Maingi is a Reproductive Health Specialist, faculty member, and researcher at the Center for Health Research and Innovation (CHeRi) at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology.
She holds a Ph.D. in Reproductive Health and an MSc in Public Reproductive Health, both from Kenyatta University. Her research expertise spans a range of reproductive health issues, including adolescent sexual and reproductive health, gender-based violence, reproductive tract cancers and infections, safe motherhood, and reproductive health challenges faced by the elderly and disabled. Additionally, she focuses on health promotion interventions to enhance the utilization of reproductive health services.
